Aramid Pressboard for Demanding Insulation Systems
Electrical insulation inside transformers and rotating machines often needs to do more than provide dielectric separation. Structural components must also retain their shape and integrity while operating under mechanical pressure and, in many applications, continuous exposure to insulating oil.
3A Associates’ Aramid Fibre Pressboard addresses these requirements with two density options designed for different insulation duties. The medium-density variant is suited to moulded insulation components such as V-rings, angle rings, gap gaskets, and round sleeves.
For applications involving greater mechanical loads, the high-density variant provides enhanced compression resistance, making it particularly suited to gaskets and structural components inside oil-immersed transformers.
Both variants are designed to perform in air as well as oil, with dielectric performance increasing substantially following oil impregnation. Large sheet formats also allow bigger insulation components to be produced with fewer joints.
